I just found this interesting video. It’s like a promotional video for a seminary, but I think it’s meant to be more than that as well. Although I highly disagree with the Emerging Church Movement’s tendency to ”revisit” (read “change,” “throw out,” “disregard”) doctrine, I think this video is addressing a very relevant issue – the style and structure of church must change to keep up with a changing world. The traditional “church” is dwindling and becoming irrelevant to people. No one goes to church anymore! It’s time that the Church – God’s people – followed Jesus’ example and went to the people with the gospel!
Enjoy
It’s the wrong file type to upload… (technology is frustrating sometimes!) Follow the link and check out “The Time is Now.”

So much for my blog! I have thought of a few things that I wanted to write about over the last week, but I never had the time to write my thoughts down. Actually, I did once and it’s turning into a several page paper. I’ll probably post it if I ever get around to finishing it off.
I still have to figure a few things out with this site (like how to add pictures) and I want to make a few pages, but that’ll take a while. I guess it would help if we actually had our own internet connection and I didn’t always have to find someone else’s I can use.
Anyway, I have lots to do today. There’s an all-town garage sale today where everyone in Sexsmith sells all their junk all along 100 st. That will be fun. We want to sell a bit of our junk, but we’re not very organized. We have no change (except some pennies, nickels, and dimes. The freezer we want to get rid of has about 6 inches of water and deer blood sitting on the bottom of it. And the filing cabinet is in Erik’s room (he sleeps ’til noon) and isn’t emptied out yet. It’s 8:30 all ready, and Karen and Melody (her friend visiting from the Island) are not up yet. Oh well… maybe we’ll just have to have another garage sale next week.
Did I mention I am reading a book called Money, Possessions and Eternityby Randy Alcorn? It’s really good, though I am not far into it. What intrigued me was his discussion on the dangers of materialism, especially the idea that having money and stuff is antithetical to faith and dependence on God. He’s not saying that money and material things are evil in themselves, but rather that they are morally neutral tools given by God to be used for the furtherance of His Kingdom for His glory! It is interesting to reflect of this, and see just how materialistic I am! It’s everywhere! I know as I read further it will convict me even more.
Be encouraged from the Word of God this morning:
“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour, Christ Jesus; who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself a people for His own posession, zealous for good deeds.”
Titus 2:11-14

I finally caved in – I reconnected to the world via technology. I stopped using MSN Messenger five years ago. I have never owned a cell phone. I refuse to get a Facebook. But something in me desired a place to express myself without the useless chatting and socializing of Facebook or an instant messenger. A place friends and family can go to find out how I am doing, a place where I can write about my thoughts, a place where I can post quotes, verses or songs that impact me. I suppose that is what a blog is for… an online journal available to the world. I have never been good at keeping a journal regularly, but maybe I will have more luck with this.
I realized last night when I set up this account that over the last five years I have lost touch with the technological world. I used to play around with webpages and such, but trying to get this blog up and running was an extremely tedious and frustrating process. Thankfully WordPress is relatively user friendly, and I do not have to know how to program a computer to set it up!
Thats all for now. I am going to go explore the other features on this blog now.
P.S. I hate slow internet connections! I’ve spent 3 hours trying to set this up!
